2010 Pro-Life March in Washington, DCWe invite you to join our Diocese and several thousand others to promote Life by attending the annual Pro-Life March in Washington DC. The dates are Sunday January 17 (mandatory registration meeting) and January 20-23, 2010 (March for Life). Sunday January 17: There will be a mandatory meeting following the 11AM Mass at the Cathedral of St. Joseph. Basically, if you plan on attending the March, plan on attending this meeting. We are holding it after the 11 AM Mass so you can arrive in time to attend Mass if you live a good distance from the Cathedral. At this meeting we will do everything necessary for registration and give out important details about the pilgrimage. Wednesday, January 20-Saturday, January 23: Arrive at the Cathedral at 6:00 PM. After loading buses and attending Mass, we will go to St. Anthony of Padua Parish in Washington, DC. We will drop off our belongings and go to the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception for Mass. Once Mass is over, we will return to St. Anthony of Padua Parish. The next morning, buses will arrive in time to get us to the Verizon Center for the Youth Rally and Mass or to the Capitol to visit Representatives. For the Verizon Center we will tell you which section the Diocese of Jefferson City will be seated in so that we sit together. That way we stay together for the March. Food is scarce the day of the March, so plan on a meal at the Verizon Center. Once everyone else leaves from the Verizon Center, everyone from our diocesan group will meet at Union Station and make our way to the beginning of the March. With the rest of the pilgrims, we will walk to the Supreme Court Building, then to Union Station. Once we arrive at Union Station, we will board our buses and head back to Jefferson City. We will return to the Cathedral on Saturday, January 23. A more complete agenda will be distributed at the meeting on Sunday, January 17. ALL ATEENDEES MUST RETURN THE FOLLOWING:
Mail all information to: Responsibilities of Chaperones: Make sure the group stays together and knows the next destination point (not necessarily all the destination points at one time; things can change on this pilgrimage); make sure the group gets on the bus; and, have a cell phone and charger or second battery (no guarantee you will be able to plug your charger into an outlet). Financial Assistance: If you plan to ask a group to pay your way, please realize it costs approximately $250 per person. Please ask the group to pay $250, not the $100 we are charging you personally to attend. I am looking forward to traveling with you (again or for your first time) in 2010! Fr. Joe Corel |
